Elvis DNA

A story from weeks past:

Waiting for the appropriate time of departure on my final day in Chicago, I was sitting in a Starbucks with my black tea, all packed up and ready to head back to O'hare via subway. Some coffee patrons tie their dog up outside while they head in leaving nobody to watch him, but passers by, and me, from the window. One of my best buds, who's birthday was celebrated the following night, texted me about her outrageous consumption, and her hence getting sick all over. I then thought that it must be the dog's birthday too because just at that moment, I was the lucky witness watching the dog hack and gag and finally toss its cookies on the sidewalk. There was a  puddle, which later a woman unknowingly stepped through. I smiled.

A couple minutes later, as I was finishing my tea, an out of place and out of work man who was mumbling to himself and organizing papers in the corner near me approached me asking if it was Sunday.
"Yes, Sunday it is," I respond.
"Thanks Mame, you look like a Presley."
"Oh, well, that's a nice little thought." ....and he trails away.
I pack up and get on the train.

Chicago Blues

Heather from ANTM sighted at The Manor.
We tried not to be creepy and stalker like, but observing the socially awkward Tyra outcast was much to entertaining. I may not be model tall, but I like being small. Today my Dad sent me this song of encouragement via text:

Thumbelina, Thumbelina, tiny little thing
Thumbelina laugh, Thumbelina sing,
Oh Thumbelina, what's the difference if you're very small
When your heart is full of love, you're nine feet tall

TOBASCO music and an afternoon SNOW

Flash snows in April, that's what I'm talkin' about. This is no joke. Happy April Fool's.

Bahama Bound...House Party??

Sitting near the middle of nowhere inhabited by DIA. Did you know there was an oasis of hotels? All of them you could name - LaQuinta is our poison of choice. Tomorrow to Nassau. I hope I don't burn.

This might be the best use of marketing I've ever experienced. I feel like I must live an Adidas lifestyle now. It's the only thing worthy or anything anymore. Help me.

Fat Tuesday

Put your beads on, Happy Mardi Gras! One day, maybe I'll make it to New Orleans. Sure, it's on the list, why not?

Hearts for Hire

Valentine's Day is approaching fast, and desperation seems to on the rise. The more I look at this poster that my roommate found, the more I want someone to call. I did a little research, and discovered the 949 area code to be from Orange County. How does this affect your decision?

Birra Lyndie Debut

Super Bowl Sunday? Yeah, it's pretty neat. Good for the Steelers, I picked them, but still managed to loose five bucks in the pool. My scores were too optimistic, but a good game to watch nonetheless, some good commercials. All this aside, I was looking forward to tonight more as the debut of my first handcrafted home brew. Got some good reviews. Maybe I belong in the brew industry. Or at least maybe I would have placed well in an "Underaged First-Timer Brew" competition. Birra Lyndie, to appeal to the suave Italians in all of us. I'll work on a more fitting and creative name for the next batch. It was a long process, but well worth the time.

Good friends, good times, good Birra Lyndie.

Dedicated to Rick Allen

Yesterday morning while I was in class (may I add my smallest and lousiest class in the sense that nobody talks or gives any feedback about anything whatsoever, unless you're making weather small-talk with the Vancouver native - who is very snippy to inform all of us that she, contrary to popular belief, is NOT used to the cold weather here because unlike what all of us nimrods choose to believe, Vancouver is in fact not bitter cold, but mild and rainy due to the sea), my phone started to vibrate in its awkwardly eccentric and incessant pattern as my dad called. As a clear distraction to the entire class, I hurried to ignore the call, and turn my phone off in fear of a voicemail or perhaps a second call. Class carried on. I returned to the dorm and listened to the message Pops had left me:

"What has 9 arms and sucks?
....brief pause
Def Leppard! Get it? Have a nice day"

Otis, a fish interested in the Arts.

This is my new fish called Otis. I was bummed about coming back to school, but bringing my new friend made it that much more exciting. He is my first Beta, for some reason I have always been against them, and opted for the goldfish of whatever type, but there's a beginning for everything I guess. My dad had a beta once, his name was Alpha.

Otis is sick. He had/has a fungal infection, so I went off and got him antibiotics of some sort which then turned his water bright green, but if he is healing, then I can stand the color. Hopefully the little guy will pull through. He and I watched Helvetica together. He, unlike my previous fish, has a more sophisticated taste, one which enjoys documentaries of typography.

My two roommates and I have our first tap dance lesson tonight.
